6/11/2010Dances at the Lakes
Two FREE performances of dance and music will enliven the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet at 7:30 p.m. on June 11 and 12, 2010, presented by the Christopher Watson Dance Company (CWDC). The program includes a combination of professional dancers and youth companies. "The young dancers really appreciate the opportunity to dance on a program with seasoned professionals," says festival director Christopher Watson. "And audiences love the combination of rising young talents and mature professional performers."

The festival has gained a loyal audience over the years. Watson encourages people to "come with friends and family, bring a lawn chair or blanket and some snacks or a picnic dinner to make it a celebration. Every year people tell us how much they enjoy the unique opportunity of seeing dance performed in the beautiful setting of the Rose Garden," says Watson.

In addition to CWDC, the performance features professional and youth artists including: Kinetic Evolutions, Ballareteatro Dance Center and Young Dance (Minneapolis), Ray Terrill Dance Group (St. Paul), and Youth Dance Ensemble (Burnsville). Out-of-town guests include Sterling Dance (Grand Marais, MN), Dawn Karlovsky (St. Louis, MO), Doris Ressl (Los Angeles, CA), Ethan Balcos, and Jodi Collova and musician Jane Anfinson (San Francisco, CA) performing with Heidi Geier (St. Paul).
